Here at Cheshire Artificial Grass, we like to provide the best artificial grass range on the market. We don’t settle for our manufacturers standard quality tests, we go one step further and make sure our grass yarns are both durable and safe.
How we test artificial grass for durability…
Our entire artificial grass range has recently passed FIFA’s rigorous durability test! For example, Arley (our most popular product), recently passed FIFA’s ‘Determination of Tuft Withdrawal Force’ test!
Arley is now one of the most durable ‘non-sports grasses’ on the market.
What is Tuft Withdrawel Force?
Tuft Withdrawel Force measures the newton force that is required to rip the tufts of grass out of place from the rubber backing. A sample of our Arley grass revealed strong results and easily passed the test in accordance with BS ISO 4919 (2012).
These tests are typically only carried out on specialist sports grasses. We decided to test our Arley grass because it is mainly used within public spaces such as schools, pubs and nurseries. These areas often see very heavy traffic or some form of sports, so it was important to ensure our product was as strong as it could be.
With a pass rate of 30 Newtons, Arley passed with an above average score of 37 Newtons which is exceptional score. Some of the readings even reached 41.2 Newtons which is fantastic for a non-sports artificial grass product.
With Arley being installed in schools across the country, we can be sure that it will survive many years of lunchtime play.
Why our artificial grass is the safest…
When installing Arley grass to public spaces such as schools, it is crucial that safety standards are met.
With 17,850 stitches per sqm and 12 and 8 stitches per tuft, this incredibly dense grass offers unbeatable crush resistance compared to other residential grasses.
To further test Arley’s safety, we completed an onsite test to EN1177 which examines exactly what height a fall becomes dangerous. After several hours of testing, we discovered that on a standard base of sand and stone, Arley has a critical fall height of over 2 meters! This again exceeded expectations.
Don’t worry, if your school has play equipment higher than this, we have specially designed underlay to combine with the grass to warrant safe play environments.
Both incredibly safe and durable, Arley proves to be the prefect grass to install in schools and other commercial settings. This grass can resist heavy wear and meet high safety standards and to top it all off, it looks and feels incredible.
