Artificial grass and golf go hand in hand. We spend a lot of time installing putting greens. Our customers love them for improving their game and practising at home, especially when the weather is bad. There are many reasons why people would want a putting green at home, and we cater to them all.
Whether you want a small 1-2 hole green or a larger 18-hole putting green around your house, we can do it all. Over the years we have perfected our putting green install method. In this post, we are going to detail exactly what we do for you. If you do decide you want (or need) your own putting green in your life.
Installing a putting green
A lot of the process is the same as installing regular artificial grass. This isn’t a complete install guide. We will just look at the differences and what we do during the process to craft your dream artificial grass green.
We do the base the same as a regular artificial grass install, however, we can add undulations and shape to the grass if you would like to help give the green a more realistic look to further help your green reading skills. Along with putting on different angles, slopes and cambers within your green.
After creating the base works, we will look at the shape of the green and the placement of the holes. Depending on what you have stated you’d like, we will draw out an area where we plan on setting the holes, from here if all is well and you are happy with the shape of the green and the placement of the holes. Now we can set the holes in place with concrete, and then place red plugs in the concrete for securing the grass down at a later stage.
Next, we will lay the membrane and then re-draw the shape of the green to help ensure the fringe and putting grass are put in place correctly. We will also cut out the holes too (obviously). After all these steps are done, now the challenging part comes into play.

We need to cut the shape of the putting grass to match the area ready for it to be glued down to the fringe and drilled into the plugs. We will also need to cut the fringe (we recommend one of our multidirectional grasses for this, but you can choose any grass you like), get that in place and flush with the putting grass. Once all is lined up we can join all of the green together with the fringe along with join the pieces of fringe together.
Now all is complete, you need to leave the area for 24 hours, to ensure the glue is completely dried and won’t come up from you walking on it. After this 24-hour period is over, you can play and practice on your brand new year-round usable putting green whenever, and as much as you desire.
See, it may take a bit more to complete than a normal install, but it won’t take long for your dream to become a reality. We hope that you chose us to make that dream come true. Enquire now and one of our team will be in touch to get a site survey booked for you.
