An artificial grass play area transformed this outdoor nursery space.

The Brooks children’s centre in Crewe had an outdoor play area that was in need of some attention. Their play area is there to encourage the children to keep active by playing outdoors. However, the grass was getting worn out and the children were getting covered in mud! They had an existing area of artificial grass which had worked well over the years, but it was time to get this replaced too. They wanted to transform the space into a clean safe environment for the children to play. We stepped in to create the perfect, artificial grass play area.

We suggested converting the surface of the play area to artificial grass. Installing artificial grass creates a clean surface that eliminates mud and won’t wear out. We cleared the area, including the old artificial grass and installed a compact, draining sub base. This speeds up drainage but crucially, levels the area to create a flat and stable surface to lay the grass. We also fixed some sections of the perimeter fence to ensure the area was fully enclosed and safe for the children.

For this project, we installed our uniquely manufactured Delamere 30mm grass. This artificial grass is specially designed to be heard wearing and long lasting, perfect for high traffic areas like nurseries. They no longer need to worry about mud or the lawn wearing out.
