The Sunday Times named Altrincham as the best place to live in the North West (2018)!

Altrincham originates from the word Aldringeham meaning the home of Aldhere’s people. Since the 19th century the town has been spelt as Altrincham and Altringham. It is the proud home of Altrincham Football Club and 3 infamous ice hockey clubs; Manchester Storm, Altrincham Aces and Trafford Tornados. It has excellent transport links to central Manchester, whilst offering beautiful, peaceful surroundings and views and great local amenities.

Altrincham is one of twelve known flourishing market towns in Cheshire. It boasts a population of over 52,000 people. The construction of the Bridge Water Canal in 1765 and the railway in 1849 played a key role in recognising Altrincham as a market town and improving its industrial links.

Some of the key attractions of Altrincham include; it’s historic market with a modern twist established over 700 years ago. It can be described as the beating heart of the town, the hip farmers market features; butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers and great independent stalls from around Manchester selling crafts, jewellery, home ware and so much more.

Dunham Massey Hall and Gardens is a family friendly place, perfect for adults and children to go to all year round. The hall is an English county house built in the 17th century by the Earl of Warrington. It is now a national trust property open to public. The garden is lovely as it is well pathed and full of flowers allowing you to enjoy a scenic walk and a selection of wildlife. The open space is ideal for children to roam around freely, ride bikes or their scooters.

We love everything about the thriving town of Altrincham, its historic roots, excellent local amenities, local attractions and amazing food and drink scene. Did we mention the great transport links making Manchester city centre and the countryside very easy to access? With all the amazing developments The Sunday Times gave it the accolade of being the best place to live in the North West!
